Monday, the
Ohio State Highway Patrol issued a
press release stating that there were fewer traffic fatalities this Thanksgiving than
the previous two years. During the reporting period, between November
23 and November 27, only 14 people were killed on Ohio's roadways,
a decrease from 2009 and 2010 when 20 and 18 people lost their lives.
Although traffic related fatalities were down,
DUI/OVI arrests increased more than 14 percent and drug arrests more than 37 percent
compared to last year. One stop in
Preble County, Ohio on Thanksgiving Day resulted in the seizure of an estimated $800,000 in cash.
